Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
