No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
