No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
