Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
