No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
