NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
