Texas Holdem is simply about people and position. All experienced Hold’em enthusiasts agree that position in no cutoff Hold’em is fundamentally important. Playing your hole cards in last spot might be a great deal more profitable than in early poker position. This is because a whole lot more information is amassed before acting.
For example, I played in a $1-$2 no limit money game at a local spot. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer button, so I could see some action. Flop arrived A-A-4. A person in early spot laid a $15 wager. Two entrants fold and it was my turn. I really should have dropped out, but his betting felt a little off. I ID’d this person as a weak-tight individual, and regularly if he had the best hand he would only check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My opponent laid an additional bet of $20. I deliberated for a while, but took a chance to re-raise a further $30thirty dollars on top of his twenty dollars. He folds and I won the pot.
Playing last spot allows you an insight into where you are positioned by seeing how players behave and wager. On the flip side, enthusiasts at early position could use their poker spot to check-raise the last positioned aggressors and trap them later at the end. In Holdem, each spots, last and early should be played carefully.
