No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
