NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
