NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
