Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
