No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
