No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
