[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
